On 12 July 2009, I received the 3 refuges and 5 precepts, and made the Bodhisattva vow at the Dharma Drum Center in Flushing, NY, from Ven. Master Guo-dong, successor to late Venerable Master Sheng Yen.
I was given the Dharma Name of Chang Yuan, which I was told means "always understands the nature of suffering", which if you knew me, is perfect.
